Cubit by Maiden Labs

Terms of Service

Effective date: April 23, 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Cubit API, website, documentation, and related services (collectively, “the Service”), provided by Maiden Labs, Inc. (“Maiden Labs,” “we,” “us”), a Colorado nonprofit corporation based in Boulder, Colorado.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys. You must notify us immediately at security@maidenlabs.org if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized use of your credentials.

4. Subscription Plans and Payment

The Service offers multiple subscription tiers, including a free Sandbox tier. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. Prices are listed on our Pricing page.

We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes do not apply retroactively to the current billing cycle. If you do not agree with a price change, you may cancel before the next billing cycle.

5. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your dashboard or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not issue prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

For Enterprise trial cancellations or billing disputes, contact billing@maidenlabs.org.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying dataset or scoring models beyond what is returned by normal API responses
  • Redistribute raw API output as a competing data product
  • Circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other technical restrictions
  • Use automated systems (scrapers, bots) to access the website in a manner that degrades performance for other users
  • Interfere with the security or integrity of the Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable.

7. API Keys

Your API key grants access to the Service at the level of your subscription tier. Keys are confidential. Do not embed keys in client-side code, public repositories, or other publicly accessible locations. You may rotate your key at any time from the dashboard.

If we detect that a key has been compromised or is being used in violation of these Terms, we may revoke it without prior notice.

8. Data and Intellectual Property

The Cubit dataset, scoring methodology, and API are the intellectual property of Maiden Labs. Your subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use API output for your internal business purposes.

You may incorporate API output into your internal reports, dashboards, and tools. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute raw API output as a standalone dataset or data product without prior written consent.

The underlying source data (O*NET, Stanford HELM benchmarks) is subject to its own licensing terms. Cubit's processed scores and composite indices are original works of Maiden Labs.

9. Service Availability

We target high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance with reasonable advance notice. We are not liable for downtime caused by infrastructure providers, network issues, or events beyond our reasonable control.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maiden Labs disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Cubit scores are informational and analytical. They are not legal, financial, or employment advice. You are solely responsible for how you use API output in decision-making.

In no event will Maiden Labs' total liability exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maiden Labs, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Boulder County, Colorado.

14. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the site at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
